Chapter 5.2

 August

This was how far I’d come in being a parent. No way in hell did I ever think I’d be walking around Simseyland, standing in long lines, and sweating in the heat to ride on a two minute rollercoaster.

But here we were and I couldn’t lie, I was having fun watching Lexie get a kick out of everything. She was so excited, she was bouncing around like a black cat firecracker.

“Mommy, Daddy, can we do the Vehicles ride next? We can all race each other. Naomi says it’s so cool.” Lexie pulled on my hand.

Before I could answer, Briar did it for me. “I’m sure we can, sweetie.”

Screenshot_5

I leaned into Beau and said, “I’m going to kick your ass on that ride.”

Screenshot_4

I squeezed his ass for effect.

He slid his hand over mine and whispered, “August, you’re going down. You know I’m better at video games than you are.”

Screenshot_3

We took a break, watching people play on the Vehicles ride.

“Why are we sitting down?” Lexie asked, jumping in Beau’s lap. “Let’s go!”

Briar came over and said, “Oh, honey, let the adults rest. We don’t have as much energy as you do.”

She was right. My feet were killing me. I wished they were made of spongy rubber like Lexie’s.

But finally, after we stood in line forever, we all made it on the ride. And both Lexie and Beau kicked my ass. So much for my predictions. I needed to play more video games, I guessed.

By the end of the day, the park put on the most amazing fireworks show. Some of the explosions formed the shapes of the movie characters. It was insane.

“Look, that’s Simsy Snail!” Lexie gushed.

Lexie

Today was the most super cool bestest day ever! When we got home, Mommy told me to take a shower right away and go to bed. But I felt like those fireworks we saw were zinging in my tummy. So I decided to get a glass of milk.

When I came downstairs, I saw Mom sniveling at the table. My heart squeezed.

Screenshot_18

I thought maybe she had caught a cold like my teacher Ms. Sasin did last week. She was sniffing like a horse in the middle of a pollen field. And her eyes were red as giant tomatoes, too.

Screenshot_19

But then I heard Mommy whimper. She was crying!

Screenshot_20

Slowly, I crept over to her then put my hand on hers. “What’s wrong, Mommy?” I asked.

Screenshot_21

Sniffing and wiping her tears, she said, “What are you doing out of bed? It’s late.”

I knew what was wrong. I felt it, too. “You’re sad about Daddy, huh?” But Mommy didn’t say anything which meant I was right.

Screenshot_22

“Why don’t you tell him you’re sad? Then maybe he won’t marry Uncle Beau and he’ll marry you instead.”

Screenshot_23

She shook her head. “It doesn’t work like that, sweetie. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be all right.”

“I know he loves you, too. You need to tell him. Plus, you’re way prettier than Uncle Beau is.”

Her lip did a half smile thingie and she laughed.

Screenshot_24

Scooping me into her arms, she said, “What did I ever do to deserve such an amazing daughter, huh? You’re wrong, though, honey. I’m really happy for Daddy and Uncle Beau. I am, so don’t think anything more about this. I’m just emotional right now.”

But I was going to think about it. I didn’t like them hurting Mommy. And besides, Daddy just needed some help to want to marry Mommy.

And then me, Daddy and Mommy would be a together family for good.

  1. My heart is totally breaking for both Lexie and Briar here! 😦 I wonder if August has any idea what kind of toll the family dynamics are taking on the two of them. Maybe he could cool things down with Beau when Briar’s around, at least. I wonder if that would help ease things a little?

I hope Briar can open her heart again and find someone. But then, I have a feeling little miss Lexie wouldn’t be too thrilled about that either…

    1. You’re so right about little Lexie not liking her mother to date other people…This whole dynamic is confusing to her. But she’s a champion of her mother’s and wants her dad desperately to marry her mom. We’ll see what she does from here.

  2. Awww, I have a bad feeling about this… I really get where Lexie is coming from–of course she’s going to be protective of her mom and want to help. And Briar has loved August almost as long as Beau has… Still, this is making me worry for Beau and August’s future.

This is such an unconventional arrangement, but everyone seems to be doing their best. I hope Lexie understands more as she gets older…if the arrangement lasts, that is. But I can’t see August ever willingly give Beau up after all they’ve been through, even if he loves Briar in his own way too.

OMG, Simseyland though–that place looks awesome, LOL. So imaginative…no wonder Lexie had a blast!

    1. When I found that lot, I knew I had to use it somehow one day. I think I found it in Jackson’s gen.

Lexie is giving off that ominous vibe and that’s a shame. She should be embracing her situation because many kids don’t have this much support. August won’t jump from Beau to Briar just like that. Let’s hope, nothing bad happens!

  3. Ohh dear! 😬
    Feeling them ominous feels!

Ahh, that theme park setting was GORGEOUS, as usual, your presentation is to be envied ❤️

Man, yeah, having flashbacks of being at a carnival with a kid; you almost need to train for it like you would a marathon, I swear to Goddess! 😭

Man, I’m super afraid of what Lexie has planned now! I sympathize with her, and Briar, of course, but, oh man, *kids*
She has me wanting to cover my eyes and peek from between my fingers!

  4. First, that theme park was amazing! It looked huge. I can relate to trying to keep up with a kid at Disney World. What are their little feet made of? 😂

I wondered if Briar was really as happy as she puts on. Now that Lexie knows her mom would love to be with August, she’s gonna do everything in her power to make them a family. Poor Beau. But I think Lexie loves Beau too, she was sitting in his lap. I don’t think she understands it would hurt him, all she can see is both her mom’s dream and her dream coming true. Something is going to happen, I can feel it.

Hopefully as she gets older she might understand. Maybe. And by older I mean a mature adult….

    1. The lot IS huge…64 x 64. So much to do there with I think just the original stuff. Very creative. And you get it, huh? Been many times with my kids…(even lost one of them for 20 minutes–a 4 year old! So scary!)

Briar IS happy for her brother, but at the same time, it kills her to watch them as it would have been for Beau. In fact, Beau wouldn’t have been so nice about it…you know? He sure didn’t like it when Briar was with August. I doubt if the shoe was on the other foot, if he would ever join them on family outings. In fact, I know he wouldn’t. But Briar has always been self sacrificing and so she knows, for Lexie’s sake, she must endure. But it’s hard on her, especially since she isn’t dating. This will be addressed later.

And yes, poor Beau, since Lexie isn’t a fan of Beaugust.

You’re sooo right about Lexie loving her uncle. And her future actions might have repercussions that she couldn’t even think about. She’s such a kid atm.

We can always hope this won’t have lasting affects on her.

      1. I don’t think August really understands the dynamic between Beau and Briar. I think he would expect Beau to get over it and do what Briar is doing. And I think you are right, he totally wouldn’t…what a mess! I can only hope that Briar does find someone…but Lexie would hate them…and probably blame Beau. 😢.

  5. Lover WitcHazard: Oh curses I can’t pick a side their both compelling! Dang August for not inheriting my monogamist mentality it would solve half of their problems but sadly not all of them!

Shipper WitcHazard: Stip trying to make me feel bad for abandoning Briagust ship I’m sticking to my guns hopefully our little Lexie won’t make me use them cause I will if I have to!

Anti Shipper: Told you all it was doomed where’s my you were right speech!

    1. Ha ha…poor August and his poly ways…I think Dark would like that, but I see she is dreaming up all kinds of mayhem on this poor family.

Shipper–staying on Beaugust then? Lexie bombs on their way!

Anti–Hee hee!!! The doomed ship Beaugust? Well…

  6. I totally sympathize with Lexie wanting her parents together. This whole situation hasn’t been fair on anyone really… At the same time though I think it’s completely unfair for Briar to even let Lexie know how she feels for August. It makes things 10x more complicated. Now not only is August trapped in the middle of this situation, Lexie is now in the vortex of it too. I could see her trying to do everything in her power to get her mom and dad back together. There was a way for this to be a healthy dynamic even if it’s a bit confusing, but now it’s too late 😦

    1. I agree. She should have made up a lie like it’s that time of the month and she’s hormonal. That could segway into a speech about puberty…Lexie IS getting to that age. But she didn’t, unfortunately.

And you’re right–August IS trapped between them and poor Lexie who can’t think beyond what she thinks she needs. It’s hard for her to understand that her father loves her uncle more than her mother. Sad? Yes…but reality. Children love fairytales.

  7. To start off, I LOVED that huge theme park! Lexie reminded me as a child. I too get excited when my parents take me to a theme park. I’m delighted that everyone had a blast.

I feel so bad for Lexie and Briar. I understand how Lexie wanted her daddy to be with her mommy instead of her uncle. I support Beau and August together. When she grows up, she’ll clearly understand why her daddy loves her uncle more. I don’t see August giving Beau up because of the unconditional love they give each.

    1. Glad you liked the lot!!! I love getting good ones to show off. ❤

Yeah, Lexie and Briar are not in a good spot. If only they'd just deal and move on. Especially Briar. Why isn't she dating? She should and not pine. But unfortunately, it's not that easy for her to move on since she's raising August's daughter. And they never really had closure…

  8. Poor Briar (and Lexie too)…
I will just wait and see what the future reserves to all of them!
Amazing chapter as always. The park fun part got my feet aching for some reason… xD

    1. You were probably feeling sorry for August’s feet! Ha!

Yeah…this was kind of sad…hopefully, it’ll get better.

And glad you liked the chapter! ❤
