Lexie

Cory and I took our sweet little time going to the movies. That was my idea. I did NOT want to go home and “visit” with my uncle. I wanted to make out in a dark theater with my so-cute-I-can’t-stand-it boyfriend. So I begged Cory to take me to the dog park for a little while until the 8 pm showing started.

As the moon rose over our little theater, I smiled. The awful events of the worst day in the history of Alexis Bianca Day’s life seemed to melt away.

And then I saw Mom and Dad making out on the sidewalk right in front of me as Cory got our tickets.

I blinked, arching an eyebrow. So…no wonder they’d been smiling at each other so much lately. They were a thing! A couple! And they didn’t want to get my hopes up so they hid it until the big reveal.

Aww…how ADORBS!

Throwing his arm around her, Dad cooed in Mom’s ear. Could they be SO GROSS and yet so awesome at the same time?

As they ducked into the theater, I had to do some spying on them so I hit Cory’s back and said, “I’ll meet you inside!”

Spotting them in the crowd, I weaved through bodies until I caught up.

But as I got a closer look, it felt as if they both kicked me in the gut. “Shit,” I hissed.

“Hey, babe, want some popcorn?” Cory asked. “Butter is calling your name.”

That imposter was not my father. My mom…was dating someone else. And she didn’t even have the decency to tell me about it.

Reality slammed me hard. All of a sudden my face heated up as my eyes watered. “Cory,” I rasped. “Take me home.”

August

When Beau arrived, he gave me an awkward hug then didn’t mince words. He motioned to the couch for us to talk.

God, I didn’t want to hear what he had to say, but I figured I might as well get it over with so I did as he asked.

Twiddling his fingers, he started, “Um…so, I’ve been thinking a lot about…us.”

Us. I hadn’t heard that word in years. “I thought ‘us’ died out a long time ago,” I said bitterly.

“I know, August, and I-I’m sorry. I just…I couldn’t take it.”

“Couldn’t take what? My family? Lexie? The fact that I’d always be tied to Briar? Save your breath, Beau, I’ve heard it from you before.”

God I didn’t want to do this again. Was he going to apologize for what happened to us then lay me out with the fact that he was now engaged to someone else? I was the one who couldn’t take it. “Is this leading somewhere because if it isn’t, you’re wasting my time? I honestly don’t want to hear it, Beau.”

He sighed, fooling with his fingers again.

“I just…” he stopped then took a deep breath.

Get it the fuck over with already, I thought.

“As you know, I’ve been dating Bucky Hollister, the big Starlight Shores producer.”

“Yeah? So?” Why the hell did I have to sound like a huge bitter asshole? Here it was…the confession of his engagement. I braced myself.

“So…I mean…well, he asked me to marry him.”

I let out the breath I was holding. This was it. The end of “us” for good. I had to get over him, but damn. It hurt. Hurt like someone just ran me over with a semi. I willed the tears not to prick my eyes, but they didn’t listen.

He slipped his hand over mine. “And I said no.”

I thought I didn’t hear him correctly. “What?”

“I’ve been running away from you all this time, August, and I’m sorry. You can kick me out and tell me to go to hell, but…I just…” He shrugged and swallowed, squeezing my hand.  “I love you…I will always love you. If you want me to leave you alone, I will, but I just can’t do it anymore. I want us again. I’ll do anything to make it up to you. I know I don’t deserve it, but…I really want another chance.” He hung his head and whispered, “Please.”

Stunned, I sat there processing what he’d just said.

And then like a tidal wave crashing over me, relief, joy, anguish consumed me and I grabbed him, not being able to say a word. I cried like a fucking baby into his shoulder.

My Beau was back.

Could my life get any crappier? First Emery Straud not only stole my best friend, but she pitched me down a flight of stairs. Then when I thought things might be looking up, my mother stabs me in the back with some tall, blonde Dad wannabe. I told Cory I was sorry and I’d make it up to him. Like the sweet person he was, he told me not to worry about it and that he’d check up on me later. He was the warm bright sun after a cold, dark rainstorm. Unfortunately, Hurricane Lexie-Day’s-Life was still pounding.

And then I walked into my house.

I couldn’t fucking believe it.

    WOW in all seriousness I feel SO bad for her though. I mean, the absolute awkwardness, disgust, and horror of walking in on your parent having sex AT ALL is already bad enough. But having to see August with Beau, after what she just saw at the movies… YIKES. 😬 This will not be an easy thing for her to recover from…

    1. You/re right…it won’t be easy but she’s going to have to come to terms with it or be a miserable creature for the rest of her life. 😦 Let’s hope she DOES accept reality. (And riiiiight? Would NOT want to walk in on my parents like that at all!)

  2. Dark WitcHazard: Great job pammie I was waiting to get over all this lovey dovey nonsense and it was with the wait! You stuck the knife in and turned it so much she might as well leave it in there! Hahaha MISERY!!!!! Aw it feels good to be back curse WitcHazard’s body for catching walking pneumonia in 85 degree weather I mean how just how!

    Lover WitcHazard: Poor Lexie as mush as I wouldn’t have mind Beaugust activities upsclose I can see how this isn’t something for her! And really Briar o get how if you have t gotten serious you wouldn’t tell your daughter about it but dating knockoff August just doesn’t say I’m over him as loud as you want it to! And Cory delicious! Will probably have to talk about Lexie’s Electra Complex later but I approve of Cexie even though I secretly think both of these abrupt revalations are going to affect their relationship more than Lexie will realize!

    Shipper WitcHazard: I’m always sad to see a ship go but a happy for the return of old ships and new ships so it doesn’t hurt as much!

    Anti Shipper: Tell that to my eat when August said him and Briar were just going to be friends you kept screaming why why why!

    Emotional WitcHazard: I’m happy that this happened sooner than later preferably over a nice talk with her parents not unintentionally invading their privacy! But still Briar didn’t know where her daughter was going to avoid her if she wasn’t ready to tell! Or August I get it it’s your house and you weren’t expecting anyone back for a couple of hours but you have a bedroom for a reason cause there is a door! Also I feel since it happened this way she’ll have no choice but to deal will it and bleaching her memories! I know she’s just a child and she thinks her parents getting together will make her happy buy happiness that requires other people to do what you want isn’t real happinesss that’s just you being a control freak! I hope this makes her realize that she can’t force other people to be happy she can only control her own happiness and how being happy will make the people who care about her happy too!

      Lover–I think Briar has a type. Don’t you? And maybe she’s not totally over August…yet…but she’s getting close. Jack (her boyfriend) is very different from August in personality, so he might remind you of August, but he doesn’t act like him. She doesn’t think of August when she’s with him.

      Shipper: I was hoping this would make you happy. Three ships represented. Not sure if all will survive, though…

      Anti: You do have to put up with Shipper and things really are just starting, so…more shipping to come! And since it’s a rom com, you might want to sit this one out if shipping bugs you.

      Emotional: LOL! I KNOW! August! Goodness, use a room! But he wasn’t thinking…with the correct head…poor Lex!

  3. Just when I was starting to get worried about August’s possible long celibacy. I’m glad his ordeal is over. 🙂 While Lexie’s probably just started. Eyefull, scarred for life and all.
    I’m happy for Briar to have moved on. Sort of. Dating August’s lookalike, not so cool . Loved Lexie stalking her, though. Too bad her day totally sucked.

      And yes, his ordeal is over and it’s time to start a family…well, maybe they should get married first?

      Briar is happy…and while the man reminds you of August in looks, he’s very different in personality. He matches Briar much better.

      Poor Lex…living the life in a rom com can have some embarrassing moments! 😉

        1. You mean for Gen 4? Because it’s over (I’m not doing some of the rules for gen 4). For gen 5, yes…but that will be at the front of gen 6 (the generational rules overlap generations. Lexie catching August “cheating” was one rule for Gen 4 but it had to roll into Gen 5 because the heir was born.

    And I totally would've thought that guy with Briar was August from behind too. I guess Briar has a type!! I hope he's a cool dude and things work out for her, she needs some love in her life. ❤

    Poor Lexie though. What a thing to walk in on when she was still rooting for her mom and dad to get back together. I guess that does count as catching your parent cheating, in her teenage mind (and for challenge rules 😉 ).

    I hope this doesn't hurt their relationship though…

      I wanted to give a nod to the original Blackwell dame as well as the original Day founder. 😉 Alexis Bianca just seemed to fit this Blackwell/Day melding.

      Briar does have a type in looks, I guess! 😉 I wonder what their kids are going to look like? I'm excited to see. (Briar is preggers…shhh…)

  5. I thought Briar was kissing a Dad wannabe too. He wasn’t tall enough and his hair was short! I knew! But we see what we want to see. I felt sad for her. But I have already come to terms with it.

    Beau just makes me mad. He says jump and August says how high. How? He has a WHOLE LOTTA making up to do before I’m not mad anymore for treating August like that. It’s AUGUST! Gahhh, how can you do that to him?

    And then for Lexie to walk in on that. Scared for life.

    But then there it is girl…Your mom and dad have moved on…it’s right there in your face. Poor thing. I know why Briar wouldn’t tell her. You don’t introduce your boyfriend until it’s a pretty sure thing. And there was nothing to tell with Beau until he decided he wanted August back. Grrrr….

    Welp, now it’s time for new decisions. And guess who wins again. Beau. 🙄 Blah. I feel like he never gives in their relationship, but only takes. ‘No August. It’s okay. I will give up everything I ever worked for to stay in the god forsaken town with you. I will give it all up for you. I will make the sacrifice.’ Drama Queen style. August will not be able to stand to see him ‘miserable’ and will give in and never complain because he’s like that. But he will ‘justify’ somehow so it looks like it’s his idea so Beau won’t ‘feel bad’. Ugh. But then that’s where Lexie meets her boys! ❤️❤️❤️ So I guess we need whiney Beau. 😂😂😂

    Sorry for the Beau rant! August deserves someone more his match. I guess he likes taking care of Beau. He must be really good in bed – or on the couch! 😂😂😂 Lexie, I’m sorry baby.❤️❤️❤️ Your Uncle Beau makes Daddy do stupid things.

    2. LOL…RIP Brigust. I knew Beau would suffer from the readers viewpoint for leaving. He will explain why he did this (it wasn’t out of selfish reasons…if he’d been selfish, he would have stayed despite his sister’s feelings which were real back then when he left.) Even though he left for Briar’s sake, I still know the Brigust folks aren’t happy. Oh well! Life goes on, I guess.

      Good thing for you–you won’t see much of Beaugust and their children because we’ll be focusing on Lexie and her drama. 😉 And then you can ship to your heart’s content because she’ll have a whole host of boys…

      1. I don’t mind them together. I guess I didn’t really understand his motives for leaving other than he hated it where they were and was being a martyr by leaving. Not so much to allow August and Briar explore whether or not they could be a thing. I totally thought it was selfish reasons. So maybe that’s why I get irritated with him. So I was shocked when I learned that August and Briar had tried to make a relationship between them happen.

        He just better not break August’s heart again! *glares at Beau*

    I’m so happy for Briar that she’s moved on! I think have extra feels for her because single mom solidarity or something, but I made a squee out loud for her when I saw her with her new man (sorry Lexie 😬)

    Man, August was in such a hurry to forgive and forget! You can really tell he’s still stuck on Beau in a big way, but poor Lexie, 💯 that girl didn’t want to see her dad stuck *in* Beau in a big way 😜

  7. Briar isn’t mad at all. She totally agreed that August is more like a brother to her and she’s moved onto…another blondie, yes! But he’s a very different person and fits her much better anyway.

    Maybe you meant Lexie? She’s horrified! But…hopefully, she’ll get over it. 😦

  8. All I wanted to say is: I’m sorry, Lexie. Indeed, it’s her worst day ever. Her dreams of Brigust getting engaged and married has shattered. RIP Brigust. I felt so bad for her!! When she walked into Beagust having sex, she got scared for life! How embarrassing and sad!

    On the bright side, I’m happy that Briar moved on!
