“But I don’t want to leave,” I whined into Cory’s warm shirt like a petulant child. How could I say good-bye? It literally made me feel ill. I mean…this was not how we were supposed to break up. One of us was going to get tired of the other or we’d start fighting and throw cuss words at each other or…we’d live happily ever after, making tons of cute blonde and brunette babies. And if one of the rotten munchkins messed up at all, we’d say it was the others’ fault like a funny, cute old couple.
But no.
It was like someone was about to rip off one of my fingernails. Pure torture.
He tried to comfort me like always. “Listen, Lex, I’m sure we’ll go to the same college and that’s only two years from now. So, it’s not forever good bye.”
I sniffed. “But you’re going to find another girl who’s way prettier and smarter and who won’t fall over her big feet all the time.”
Stroking my cheek, he said, “There’s no one prettier or smarter than you. And I like catching you when you fall.” He blinked then said, “If we’re meant to be, Lexie, it’ll happen.”
“You sound like my uncle.”
“Well, it’s true.”
Tears pooled in my eyes. “And if we’re not meant to be?”
Eyes glittering, he whispered, “Then I got the privilege of knowing the prettiest, smartest, funniest girl who I love more than myself.”
He gave me a salty kiss as our glasses clinked but I didn’t care.
And then both of us cried for a bit until my mom called for me.
“Bye,” I said as our hands parted. It was like a ribbon that attached us was snipped by some evil scissors.
I knew I’d never see him again.

I wanted to be bitter. To blame Uncle Beau and my father for ripping me away from Cory, but as the weeks passed, and I saw how happy they were together, I couldn’t stay mad.
Fast forward to their tiny wedding, and I wholeheartedly was a fan.
The pure love I saw in my dad’s eyes made me extremely happy.
I hoped one day, I’d find someone who’d love me the same way.
My mother burst into tears when Uncle Beau said his vows.
It was such an awesome day that I couldn’t even crack one joke about it.
Now that’s saying something!
Congratulations, Mr. & Mr. Blackwell-Day.

I’m glad Lexie was able to accept her dad and uncle’s relationship, and feel happy about their marriage. So important for her and her family to be happy and accept each other! Hopefully there won’t be too much drama in their future! This family has more than met their drama quota for a lifetime 😂
Also, I hope blondie there is treating our girl Briar well and giving her the happiness she deserves ❤️❤️❤️

Awwww…..They looked so,happy and Lexie is happy for them…so,glad she got past her fantasy and has accepted that she now has two dads, maybe three soon! Haha. ❤️❤️❤️ So hoping Briar is happy too. She looks all cozy with the blonde guy. She is definitely happy for her brother.
And Seth and Siobhan! Aging gracefully. And who is the other couple…I know I should know this, but…he looks like Seth. Did August have a brother…I think he did, but don’t recall.

Yes, August has a little brother, Darius. He’s not so little anymore. Ha! He’s just as big as August and looks a lot like Seth. We’ll see him in the chapters to come (for a bit–it’s all about Lexie now). He’s married and we’ll meet her as well.
(Maybe three dads soon!!! Time jump will tell all. 😉 )

Awww, what a short and (bitter)sweet chapter. Poor Lexie, I don’t have much faith in her high school romance, but I do hope she finds a love that’s meant to be. ❤ ❤ It was nice to see Cory being so mature–what a wonderful first boyfriend, regardless of whether or not they end up together.
Loved the Blackwell-Day wedding. ❤ ❤ So pretty! And the boys looked so happy and handsome.
Lexie and Briar looked happy too, and I'm so glad everyone is moving forward with their lives. May everyone find happiness!

Dark: a rom com can’t be THAT full of angst. A deep seated hatred of her steps might be funny but it’d take the focus off where this is headed. No doubt you’ll be pleased by some of the characters. I promise.

Okay. I’m happy August is a married man at last, even though I didn’t expect it to ever happen. I’m glad the choice has finally been made, no more confusion, especially for Lexie.
Can’t wait to see what the future in the big city holds for the girl and if it makes her forget Cory easily or not.

That was so sad that Lexie had to leave Cory behind! I do hope these two will see each other again! If not, I know she will find a boy that’s has a personality like Cory’s while he finds a wonderful girl for himself!
More importantly, I’m pleased that Lexie finally accepted and understood Beaugust and OMG, the wedding happened! It was beautiful! Great to see Shiv and Seth there!

Love this story still so much! So I know you like to go off script sometimes on the challenge. So August got married ❤️ Yay! Did what Lexie witnessed with them check off the cheating? Yes…that was the cheating check off box with Lexie finding her dad and uncle. August’s personality by the ending just didn’t jive with the challenge rules and I knew from the beginning he was going to marry Beau. Notice, if you go back, Beau told August he wanted to get married and have lots of kids and August didn’t want any. Guess who wins on that dream? 🤣
